Mayuri is the only child of Kanthi and Nihal Gunatilaka and eldest granddaughter of Leela Iddawela Ulagoda (7th of 13 Iddawelas) of Hingula. Mayurie graduated from University of Auckland BS in Physics and Math followed by Master in Nuclear Physics. She worked in the field of Environment mainly at MWH Global New Zealand and shifted to NZ Transport Agency in late 2017. She married Scott Goodwill in 2003 and lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
