Aruna (1957) is the eldest of Abey Iddawela family (8th of 13 Iddawelas). Aruna studied in Kingswood College, Kandy (high school for boys) and worked in CEB (Ceylon Electricity Board). He married Janaki Hettiarachchi (1960) from Lewella, Kandy. They lived in Aruna’s childhood home in Pilimathalawa before moving to the newly built house in Lewella next to Janaki’s childhood home. They have two daughters Avanthi (1989) & Chulani (1990). Jankai and the daughters studied in Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy (high school for girls) and graduated from Peradeniya University.
