Chandrani Devika Ulagoda (1950) alias Lakshmi is the second daughter of Leela Iddawela Ulagoda. Her education was at St. Joseph’s Convent, Kegalle (high school for girls) where she was very active in sports, singing, drama, etc. Pinnacle of her school drama acting was portraying Magandi in Buddhist Story Magandi. She became vice captain of school prefects. Later she would become a trained english teacher serving in Othnapitiya school. She married Land Surveyor Sunil Samarasinghe (1942-2004) in 1980 at Kegalle and settled in Sunil’s hometown Othnapitiya,off Nelundeniya near Warakapola in Kegalle District, Sri Lanka. Her two daughters are Chathurika (1983) and Chethani (1987). Lakshmi became a grandmother in 2012.
