Punchi Mahattayo Iddawela

1907–1999

Eldest daughter Wijesundara Mudiyanselage Punchi Mahaththayo Iddawela (Podi Menike 1907-1999) was the second of Ukkubanda & Lokumenike’s 13 children. She married proprietor Tikiri Banda Dhanapala (1896-1974) of Manadeniya residence, Pilimatalawa which is beside Wijetunga Mawatha (named after ex-president of Sri Lanka) on Colombo-Kandy road. They had 7 children 2 male and 5 female namely Cyril , [family member] , [family member] , [family member] , [family member] , [family member] and Neeta respectively. They also adopted [family member], the youngest son of Wije Iddawela. Cyril’s family chose Manadeniya as last name while [family member] remained as Dhanapala.

Pilimathalawa is situated between Kadugannawa and Peradeniya along Sri Lanka’s A1 highway Colombo-Kandy road. This expanding city belongs to Kandy District of Central Province.
