Samanthi born 1981 is the eldest child of Lumbini Iddawela Samarakoon and grand daughter of Wije Iddawela. She studied in Kobeigane school, Gampaha Holy Cross Convent, Kurunegala Maliyadeva Girls (OL) and Convent (AL). She then graduated from Teaching School (Vidyapeeta) in Polonnaruwa. She did teaching internship at Minneriya National School. She was teaching at … school in Kurunegala suburbs before transferring to Thulhiriya Primary School. She married lawyer Janaka Liyanasekera in 2006 and settled in a newly built house next to Janaka’s childhood home in Thulhiriya. They have a son Sandesh (2008) and a daughter Thasuni (2012).
